IPL Photofacial
Years of sun and normal aging leave behind redness, tiny visible vessels and brown spots. An IPL photofacial uses gentle bursts of light that may help even out tone and give a fresher-looking complexion.
Light that evens out your tone
Intense pulsed light, or IPL, delivers broad-spectrum light into the skin. Pigment and red vessels absorb that energy, which may help break up dark spots and reduce the look of small visible capillaries over time.
Because the treatment works on both brown and red concerns, it is often chosen for the face, neck, chest and hands, areas where sun damage tends to show first.
After a series, some patients notice fewer freckles, less redness or brighter-looking skin, though results vary. Treatments are quick enough for a lunch break and require no needles.

- Uneven tone on the chest or hands
What to expect
- 1Skin review. We confirm your concerns, check recent sun exposure and note any medications that increase sensitivity.
- 2Light pulses. A cooling gel is applied and short flashes of light are delivered. Each pulse feels like a quick, warm snap.
- 3Afterward. You may look flushed for a few hours. Treated spots can darken and then flake off over several days.

IPL questions
How many IPL treatments are needed?
Most patients do a series of several sessions a few weeks apart. Maintenance is often yearly.
Is IPL painful?
Most patients describe a mild stinging, like a rubber band snap. Cooling helps keep it comfortable.
Who should not have IPL?
Recent tanning, certain medications and some skin conditions can make treatment unsafe. IPL is also not ideal for very dark skin tones.
What is the difference between IPL and a laser?
IPL uses a broad range of light wavelengths, while lasers focus a single wavelength. We help you decide which suits your concern.
