Trimix Injection Therapy
Trimix is a physician-prescribed, compounded medication injected at the base of the penis that may help men achieve an erection when ED pills are not effective or cannot be used. It is used off-label and is not FDA-approved as a combination product.
An option when pills fall short
Trimix combines three medications that relax blood vessels and may increase blood flow to the penis. Unlike oral medications, which must travel through the digestive system, Trimix acts locally, and some men who have not responded to pills find it helpful.
Self-injection can feel intimidating, so we teach you the technique in the office, supervised, before you ever use it at home. Your provider typically starts with a conservative dose and adjusts it carefully.
Because Trimix is a prescription medication, it begins with a medical evaluation. We review your heart health, other medications and history, and we set clear guidance on timing, dosing and safety.

What to expect
- 1Medical evaluation. We review your health, medications and goals to be sure Trimix is safe and appropriate.
- 2Supervised first dose. Your provider teaches the technique and administers a test dose in the office to find a starting amount.
- 3Ongoing guidance. We refine your dose at follow-up visits and review safe use and storage. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, go to the nearest emergency room or dial 911 right away. Do not wait for a text reply.

Trimix questions
Does the injection hurt?
The needle is very fine, and many men report only a brief pinch. We practice the technique with you in the office first.
What are the possible side effects?
Possible effects include a mild ache, bruising or an erection that lasts longer than intended. An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) is a medical emergency: go to the nearest emergency room or dial 911 immediately. Our office is text and voicemail only, so do not rely on a text message in this situation. We give you a written safety plan at your first visit.
How often can I use Trimix?
Use is typically limited to a certain number of times per week, and your provider will set a schedule that is safe for you.
Is Trimix FDA-approved?
Trimix is a compounded medication and is not FDA-approved as a combination product. Its component medications are used off-label for this purpose, and we explain the details at consultation.
